Billie Eilish is on an impressive winning streak at the moment with her new single. The singer’s “Birds of a Feather” is proving to be quite the smash, and each week, it climbs to a new peak on a number of tallies in the U.S. This frame is no different from many recent ones, as the tune is still flying to new heights.
“Birds of a Feather” is growing on multiple charts, and it even manages to climb to the summit on one. The track is quickly turning out to be a huge winner in the rock space, and frame-by-frame, it continues to become bigger and bigger on Billboard’s genre-specific lists.
Eilish earns another No. 1 this time around as “Birds of a Feather” flaps its wings and soars to the top spot on one purchase-focused ranking. The smash steps up from the runner-up space to No. 1 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, reaching the throne for the first time.
“Birds of a Feather” marks Eilish’s ninth track to hit No. 1 on the list of the bestselling alternative songs in the country. It’s also her first from her new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which was released this spring.
So far, Eilish’s longest-running leader on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart remains “Bad Guy,” which helped her turn from rising star to a name known in almost every household in the country. That single led the charge for an incredible 29 turns, starting a little more than five years ago.
Eilish first reached the peak position on the alternative tunes sales list just a few months prior to that win. “Bury a Friend,” which served as one of the earlier singles from her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, brought her to the No. 1 slot for the first time in February 2019. That dark-pop cut only managed to dominate for one frame.
In the past tracking period, “Birds of a Feather” sold 8,000 copies throughout America, according to Luminate. That’s up more than 100% from the period before. That sum is also large enough to ensure that Eilish’s tune surges to a new peak on the Digital Song Sales tally, where it currently sits at No. 2.
Last week, an unlikely duet debuted at No. 1 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, and in its second stint on the tally, it hasn’t fallen far. Papa Roach and Carrie Underwood’s “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)” opened in first place with impressive sales last time around, and now it’s dipped slightly to No. 3.
