Billie Eilish has been a global superstar for more than half a decade now. She’s produced some of the biggest hits of the past several years, and she’s well-known the world over. Even after so much time in the spotlight and so much success, there are still new heights for the singer-songwriter to reach.
“Birds of a Feather” hits No. 1 on both of Billboard’s worldwide rankings this week. The song rises from the runner-up rung to the top spot on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global 200 Excl. US at the same time.
Eilish earns her first leader on both tallies this frame. She’s earned a number of huge worldwide wins throughout her career, though until now, she’s never managed to rule these lists.
It’s worth mentioning that Billboard introduced both of its global rankings in 2020, shortly after Eilish became a household name. If the tallies had been around in the years prior, she would have had a much better shot at hitting No. 1, perhaps with “Bad Guy,” which proved to be a breakout smash.
Before this week, Eilish has seen two tracks rise as high as No. 2 on both rankings, though which tunes have reached that position differs between the lists. On the Billboard Global 200, both “Therefore I Am” and “What Was I Made For?” missed out on becoming a No. 1 by just one space.
On the Billboard Global 200 Excl. US, “Therefore I Am” also peaked at No. 2, as did the first single from Eilish’s latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. “Lunch” stalled in the runner-up rung on the list, which looks at the most popular songs in the world, with all data from America excluded.
“Birds of a Feather” takes over the throne on both charts after Jimin ruled for several frames. The BTS singer’s “Who” debuted at No. 1 on the two rankings and held there for a pair of weeks.
At same time that she earns her debut No. 1, Eilish also collects another top 10 smash. “Guess,” which is fronted by Charli XCX and which now features Eilish on the remix, opens inside the top 10 on both tallies, though in different positions.
