Authorities are investigating the collapse of a section of bleachers at a Texas rodeo arena that injured 12 people near San Antonio.
Emergency response crews arrived at the rodeo arena in Boerne, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of San Antonio, shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, said Walter Ball, assistant fire chief in Boerne.
According to Ball, four people were treated for injuries following the crash at the Kendall County Fairgrounds Saturday night, while eight others were taken to the hospital, six of whom were later released.
A preliminary inspection by the Bourne Fire Marshal and the city Code Compliance Office on Sunday morning found that a more thorough investigation by a structural engineer is needed to determine the cause of the collapse before the arena can be reopened.
According to a social media post by the Kendall County Fair Association, Sunday night's rodeo performance was canceled, but attendees could still enjoy eating, shopping and watching live entertainment on the fair's final day.
