DMV apologizes, vows to withdraw ‘disgusting’ license plate on Cybertruck that appeared to mock October 7 attacks


A Tesla Cybertruck in California was spotted with “disgusting” license plates on October 7, apparently making fun of it, leading the DMV to promise to recall them – though one family claims it’s just a There was a terrible misunderstanding.

“StopAntisemitism is horrified by the disgusting display celebrating terrorism against Jewish people on a Cybertruck plate in California,” the group posted.

It called the plates a “disgusting travesty of the loss of 1,200 innocent lives and the injury of countless others” and shared a formal letter for followers to send to the California DMV demanding action.

dmv issued a statement Apologies for allowing the vanity version to be processed. The department said it is working to recall the “shocking” plates and will strengthen its internal review process to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

The plate owner will be notified of the recall and will have the right to appeal the department’s decision, The Los Angeles Times reported.

The agency said the use of “hateful language” violates its policies and values.

“We sincerely apologize that these personalized plates were not properly rejected during our review process,” the DMV said.

A family from Los Angeles later came forward and said that the plates were simply a nod to their Filipino heritage and their grandfather, NBC 4 reported.

“Lolo” means grandfather in Tagalog, “CT” means Cybertruck and “7” refers to the number of grandchildren, a family member told the outlet, requesting anonymity.

The family said the DMV issued an apology without giving them a chance to explain.

“We are one big Filipino family and this has nothing to do with the conflict in the Middle East,” the person said.

He said the family plans to change the license plate at the DMV on Monday.
