Dr Sanjay Gupta calls on Biden to undergo cognitive testing

Famed neurosurgeon Dr Sanjay Gupta on Friday called on President Biden to undergo detailed cognitive and neurological testing — and then release the results publicly.

CNN’s top medical correspondent wrote an op-ed for the outlet for the outlet saying that more than a dozen other doctors had reached out to him after the 81-year-old president’s “concerning” debate performance last week — specifically his “rambling” and “open-mouthed expression” on stage.

“For me as a brain specialist, it was concerning to watch President Joe Biden, and it quickly became clear that I was not alone in my reaction,” Gupta wrote.

“From a neurological standpoint, we were concerned with his confused rambling; sudden loss of concentration in the middle of a sentence; halting speech and absence of facial animation, resulting at times in a flat, open-mouthed expression.”

The medical expert referenced “dementia” and “parkinsonism,” while stressing he was only offering observations rather than an actual diagnosis.

“The consensus from the doctors reaching out to me, however, was that the president should be encouraged to undergo detailed cognitive and movement disorder testing, and those results should be made available to the public,” Gupta said.

Such detailed testing was vital to “determine whether there is a simpler explanation for the symptoms displayed or if there is something more concerning,” he wrote.

“The country is watching now, and that assessment gives cause for concern — and a need for transparent testing.”

Gupta’s calls come as concerns for the commander-in-chief’s health only continue to mount following his disastrous face-off against former President Donald Trump.

Biden, himself, told Democratic governors Wednesday that he’d received a medical checkup after the debate and insisted he’s in good health.

The short doctor’s visit, however, was only to assess an apparent lingering cold and was “not a physical,” a White House aide later confirmed to The Post

Meanwhile, the White House has repeatedly rejected calls to release the president’s detailed medical records.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre insisted back in February that Biden “doesn’t need a cognitive test” after the president underwent his annual physical.

The more than two-hour-long medical appointment was conducted by a team of 20 doctors who determined the president is so mentally sound that no test was needed, the spox said at the time.
