If you are a fan of Diff’rent Strokes you will certainly recall this catchphrase by Gary Coleman, who played Arnold Jackson on the 1978 to 1986 sitcom. Peacock will explore the life and mysterious death of Gary Coleman, who began his career on television in 1974 when he appeared in a commercial for Harris Bank. That same year he had a guest spot in an episode of drama Medical Center and was eventually discovered by producer Norman Lear, who cast young Coleman in episodes of The Jeffersons and Good Times before seguing into Diff’rent Strokes.
Coleman died in 2010 at the age of 42.
Peacock’s new documentary, Gary, explores the life and death of Gary Coleman. Through exclusive interviews with fellow actor, Todd Bridges, former managers, his estranged parents and Coleman’s ex-wife, the film details his rise to fame as the child star of Diff’rent Strokes and the dark sides of his personal life off camera. Per the logline: “Gary sheds a new light on the star’s life and explores the controversy surrounding his tragic death at the age of 42. Viewers will get insight into Coleman’s lifelong illness and depression, his financial troubles, tumultuous marriage, and his heartbreaking demise.”
