Two Gold Star parents reminded President Biden of the 13 service members who died in Afghanistan during his disastrous withdrawal of US forces during the Republican National Convention Wednesday night.
“Our son, Cpl. Hunter Lopez, whose name Joe Biden has refused to say out loud, was killed on Aug. 26, 2021,” Alicia Lopez said. “He died during Joe Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.”
“During last month’s debate, he claimed no service members have died during his administration. None. That hurt us all deeply,” added Herman Lopez later.
“So Alicia and I are here to say the names of all 13 service members who lost their lives at Abbey Gate,” he said before reading out each of the names and having the crowd chant each of them back.
Chants of “Joe must go” broke out from the crowd shortly after Herman Lopez read through the names of the 13 soldiers who were killed at Abbey Gate during the Afghanistan withdrawal.
Another Gold Star mom Christy Shamblin, whose daughter-in-law, Marine Sergeant Nicole Gee was one of the 13 American service members killed at Abbey Gate, slammed President Biden for refusing to recognize Nicole’s tragic death.
“While Joe Biden has refused to recognize their sacrifice, Donald Trump spent six hours in Bedminster with us,” Shamblin said.
“Donald Trump carried the weight for a few hours with me,” she added, noting that she expected Trump to be “an arrogant politician” but instead he showed “empathy.”
