Recently we have had our own PM Mr. Modi promoting Lakshadweep and its tourism and the internet went gaga after the PM posting his pics, and then we had the unforeseen and uncalled-for controversy with Maldives and its officials. This is not a story of the controversy but the tourism of India and there is a lot happening in the scene.

India’s First Submarine Tourism

There has been a revolutionary announcement by the Gujarat state government since it plans to introduce the nation’s first submarine tourism venture.

The government of Gujarat is working with the Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL) in order to redefine the tourist experience by exploring the mesmerizing underwater world off the coast of Dwarka, a city steeped in the tales of Lord Krishna.

Marking the debut of our nation into submarine tourism, this partnership and its avant-garde project plans to bring forth the marine wonders surrounding Bet Dwarka which is a scenic island intimately connected to the mythology of Lord Krishna, nestled off the coast of Dwarka.

Scheduled to be launched before Diwali this year. There tourists will be able to descend approximately 100 meters below the sea surface within a specially designed submarine which shall provide an immersive experience with the marine life of the island.

The 35 tonnes submarine is designed to accommodate up to 30 passengers at a time. The submarine offers an optimal underwater experience since it has two configured rows for window views for 24 passengers, remaining 6 shall include 2 experienced pilots and professional crews.

A Potential Game Changer in Tourism

In the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit which is ongoing as we speak, there are chances that the announcement of the same shall be done since its awaited.

The anticipation of the same does not just rely on what it could potentially offer to tourists but also what it could mean in terms of employment opportunities as well as regional investments.

The Managing Director of Gujarat Tourism, Saurabh Pardhi believes that this unique project will significantly enhance tourism in Dwarka.

With the submarine tourism initiative, Dwarka, which already is known for its religious significance and the revered Dwarkadhish Temple, is on a tipping point when it comes to tourism.
