Lara Spencer’s health is improving!
The 55-year-old “Good Morning America” co-anchor revealed why she’s been absent from the program this week — and it has to do with a painful health battle.
Spencer took to social media on Wednesday, December 11 and opened up to her followers. entry a photo Showing off both of her legs with bandages, the beloved TV host announced that she had undergone double surgery.
She wrote in the caption, “If I look a little sad it’s thanks to this guy who got me a new pair of boots (Frame 2-wish they were cowboy boots but hopefully they’ll arrive in about 6 weeks). ” photosWhich included another photo of Spencer smiling with her surgeon.
She said one surgery was to reverse an earlier operation, while the other was to repair an old injury from college.
“My right foot was fine – the plate was removed surgically last year,” Spencer wrote. “The left is a bigger deal than a very old college diving injury. I was upside down one and a half times and hit the board, breaking my toes and joints.
“Then they said there’s nothing you can do except tape it, fix it, and live with the pain,” the morning show veteran continued, before singing her doctor’s praises and telling a joke.
“There are much better options today, thanks to surgeons like Dr. Marty O’Malley at HSS,” he said. “These shoes were made for walking…”
Many of Spencer’s colleagues sent him well wishes for a speedy recovery.
“Awesome! Well, there’s no doubt you’ll be moving in no time! ABC News’ “20/20” co-anchor Deborah Roberts commented.

In 2023, Spencer shared that O’Malley had surgery on a torn plantar plate and ligament in her foot, which was “slowly getting worse.”
The television star is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. She attended college on an athletic scholarship for springboard and platform diving and was a nationally competitive diver, Per Daily Mail,
