Last week, a little girl in Michigan was killed when she was hit by a car while walking home after bedtime.
The girl, just two years old, was put to bed by her parents Friday evening while they were spending the evening at their home in Allen Township. Michigan State Police said on X,
But just after 8 p.m., police were called to the scene when a 38-year-old man driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta struck the girl in the road, killing her.
“Upon arriving on scene, troopers located a two-year-old girl lying in the road,” police said.
“The child was taken to Hillsdale Hospital where she died.”
Investigators are trying to determine how the accident occurred.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the child was put to sleep at home by her parents,” police said, adding that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the fatal crash.
“While the parents were working around the house, the child got out of her bed and walked out of the house. The child walked onto Chicago Street and was injured.”
