It’s no secret that the Alien franchise is making a comeback after a long time with Alien Romulus and the fans of the franchise are more than excited to watch the Xenomorphs giving humans a hard time. However, people have been wondering if this movie is going to be connected to previous Alien projects or not, so, in this article, let’s find out about the Alien movies you should watch before walking into the theaters to watch Alien Romulus.
Movies to Watch Before Alien Romulus
Even though Alien Romulus is kind of a standalone project it is being said that it will be set between the events of the original Alien Movie (1979) and its sequel Aliens (1986). This confirms that Alien Romulus is going to be set in the year 2122 as both these original films take place in this time.
1. Alien
Even though falling quite low in chronological order to watch Alien movies, this was the first movie to be released in the Alien franchise and became a massive success. Alien shows us a crew of astronauts sent into space to find the alien species called Xenomorphs. However, what they thought would be just a find-and-capture mission turned out to be a nightmare for the crew as the Xenomorphs turned out to be extremely violent. The events that took place in the movie became the spawn point for everything we have seen in the Alien franchise so far.
2. Aliens
Following the events of Alien, we see that Ripley is found by her employers floating in space and is taken back to LV-426. However, when she tells about everything that happened to her superiors in her debriefing, her accounts are taken with a pinch of salt. But, since her accounts are true, the colony is soon attacked by a hoard of Aliens.
There is a possibility that Alien Romulus might revolve around the invasion we saw in Aliens but as of now there is no confirmation of this theory. The creators of the movie have stated that Alien Romulus will have little references from these two movies so let’s wait and see where this movie takes us to in the universe of Aliens and till then stay tuned with us for further updates!
