Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has spoken publicly for the first time since the death of her mother Janelle Kidman (83). Sydney on Saturday night.

Nicole has now returned to Australia to be with the rest of her family.
Although a note written by Nicole was read at the ceremony in her absence, she has now spoken out publicly. Social media,
“My sister and I and our family want to thank you for all the love and kindness you've shown us this week,” Nicole wrote on Instagram.
“The messages we have received from people who love and respect our mother mean so much to us that we cannot express it.
“On behalf of our entire family, thank you for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.”
Nicole's friends and colleagues offered their condolences, including Australian star Naomi Watts.
“Sending you both lots of love,” Watts added in the comments.
“So sorry for your loss.
“Your wonderful spirited mother will be missed by many.
“Hopefully she has now reached your father peacefully.
“love you.”
“She's wonderful,” actress Teresa Palmer said.
Nicole's ex-fiancé Lenny Kravitz – and the father of her co-star Zoe Kravitz – also offered his condolences.
“My deepest condolences to you and your family,” Kravitz said.
“I am blessed to be in his company. Rest in peace.”
In a festival note read out by Babygirl director Halina Reason, Nicole said she was “heartbroken”.
“I arrived in Venice today and learned shortly afterwards that my beautiful, brave mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, has passed away,” it read.
“I am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for him, he shaped me, he guided me and he made me.
“I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to say her name to all of you through Helena, the collision of life and art is heartbreaking, and my heart is broken.
“we love you all.”
Janelle is believed to have had health issues since at least 2022, when Nicole spoke about it on the Fresh Air podcast.
He said he was able to visit the Art Gallery of New South Wales to see the Matisse: Life and Spirit exhibition, which he described as being like a “soothing balm”.
Nicole said she felt fortunate to be able to see the world through her mother's eyes, describing her perspective as “very beneficial”.
“I'm in a spot where I'm being given an opportunity to see the world, because of how close we are, my mom is giving me an opportunity to see the world through the eyes of an 81-year-old woman,” she said at the time.
“She’s giving me access, because she’s so direct and honest, and so I’m able to access the world through her eyes, through my mother’s eyes, so even at almost 80, she’s still a part of me.”
