NY pol challenges White House on ‘untenable’ drone mystery: ‘Completely unacceptable.’



It’s time someone did something about drones.

A New York elected official wants the Federal Aviation Administration and the FBI to answer the drone mystery hovering over New Jersey and parts of the Empire State — and says he even wrote a letter to the White House to complain.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day said in a sharp statement, “The fact that this issue has persisted for weeks without clear answers is completely unacceptable – not only to the people of Rockland County, but to the entire country. For communities.”

“Now is the time for the federal government to step up, take responsibility, and provide the answers we deserve,” he said. Statement issued on Friday“We understand that these drone sightings can be unsettling and we are taking these reports seriously.”

Day said four more drones were spotted flying over the county and over Jersey on Thursday. Rockland shares a border with the Garden State to the south.

But Day says he wrote a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to reconsider and ask the FAA and FBI to “investigate and answer who is behind these drone sightings.”

In the meantime, Rockland Police are asking County residents to keep an eye on the skies.

“We are asking all county residents if they see something, say something,” Rockland County Sheriff Lewis Falco said in a statement. “Once 911 is contacted, an officer from the local jurisdiction and the sheriff’s office will be dispatched to investigate, everything will be documented and reported to federal authorities.”
