This was a different kind of standby flight.
A female airplane passenger sparked controversy after choosing to stand in the aisle during the entire flight, as seen in a viral tiktok video,
Dr. Richard Duong, who posted under the username @envisionaries, captioned the clip, “Lady stood on my flight for a whole seven hours watching her movie.”
In the footage, the unidentified blonde is seen looking at her screen in an upright position in the corridor with a blanket around her waist.
The short clip shows her still on her feet even after the lights dim.
However, Duong clarified in the comments that the flyer will take his seat when the seat belt sign appears.
While some online trolls mocked the woman – one viewer quipped that she was “standing on business” – many others expressed sympathy for the flyer.
Many speculated that she may have been suffering from a medical condition that made sitting painful.
According to one theory, “he may have had a blood clotting disorder.” “This causes me to stand up and stretch a lot.”
“With massive back problems – totally get it,” said another.
A third wrote: “Like someone with a broken tailbone, got it.”
“I have fibromyalgia and I have to stand during most of the flight otherwise I’m in pain,” said one sympathizer, while a protester declared, “She couldn’t have had a problem and just wanted to stand. This is his business.”
