New York State Police are searching for a missing woman who intentionally waded into the Niagara River above the iconic waterfall — just a week after a mother threw herself and her two children off the riverbank.
Police said multiple witnesses reported seeing the mysterious woman in the water around 2 a.m. Wednesday on Goat Island, just above Horseshoe Falls — the largest of the three waterfalls that collectively make up Niagara Falls.
“An immediate search of the area was initiated using a Park Police drone, foot search of the gorge, and remote visual search,” state police said. WGRZ said in a statement,
Park Police then contacted New York State Police Aviation for assistance in searching the lower Niagara River.

In the same area last Monday, Chianti Means, a 33-year-old New York mother, stepped over the railing at Luna Park, a small area near the summit of the falls, and intentionally jumped into 200 feet water With her two children, aged 9 and 5 months.
