It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s the “Superman” trailer.
trailer James Gunn’s first film in the new DC Universe was revealed on Thursday, offering an epic glimpse at David Corenswet’s take on the iconic superhero role.
Korenswet’s Superman crashes on a snowy patch and is bleeding from the mouth at the beginning of the trailer.
The footage shows Clark Kent and “The Marvel Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane at the Daily Planet.
Returning to Superman bleeding out in the snow, he is approached by his superpowered dog Krypto in the comics.
“Take me home,” Superman says to Krypto.
It also features a glimpse of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Eddie Gaethgi as Mister Terrific.
Superman and Lois also share a steamy kiss during the trailer.
The Warner Bros. film was originally titled “Superman: Legacy,” but Gunn, 58, announced in February that he had cut the second part of the name.
He wrote, “When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the movie ‘Superman: Legacy’.” “By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was ‘Superman.’
“Superman” marks Gunn’s first film in the revival of the DC Universe. It is part of the initial group of films titled Chapter One: Gods & Monsters.
in an interview with comicbook.comGunn teased how his film would feature a romance between Corenswet’s Superman/Clark Kent and Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.
“It’s something that is totally us,” Gunn explained. “The relationship between David and Rachel[characters]on screen is something that I don’t think we’ve seen – I hate to say things like this – but I don’t think it’s something we’ve ever seen in any superhero movie. Have seen.”
“It’s a complicated relationship and we really get into it and there are long scenes that are about their relationship and the way they relate and what it would be like to have a person who is incredibly intelligent, strong He is a headstrong, stubborn, doubting journalist. A relationship with someone who can lift a skyscraper,” he said.
Corenswet, 31, takes over the role of Superman from Henry Cavill, who played the hero in six films, beginning with 2013’s “Man of Steel” and ending with an uncredited cameo in last year’s “The Flash.”
Superman is the biggest role to date for Korenswet, who has previously appeared in two Ryan Murphy Netflix series, “The Politician” and “Hollywood.”
‘Superman’ will be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
