In case you missed Sunday’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here:
The very first Monday of the month is here, and with it a brand new—and somewhat easier—Mini Crossword puzzle.
The Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you’ll need the app to tackle the archive.
A few hints for the tougher ones in case you don’t just want the answers right away:
- 1 Across is like a flame, but not flame
- 1 Down could also be a fake
- 4 Down is two words
- 5 Down who’s there?
While some of today’s words are pretty simple, some might have you stumped. You’ll find the answers below. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Skip ahead for the image of today’s solved puzzle.
ACROSS
1. Bit of romantic potential — SPARK
6. One able to pass a Captcha test — HUMAN
7. Protein-building acid type — AMINO
8. Card tricks, disappearing acts, etc. — MAGIC
9. Failed to float — SANK
DOWN
1. Decorative pillow cover — SHAM
2. Mountain lions — PUMAS
3. Female friend, in Spanish — AMIGA
4. Rushed through the door — RANIN
5. When repeated, classic kind of joke — KNOCK
This was pretty easy, all told. I did have to think for a spell on the decorative pillow casing, because I am just not that kind of guy. I probably would have had trouble with 4 Down but it was filled in by all the other words, so lucky me! I already had HUMAN which made PUMAS a little easier. But yeah, not too shabby! How did you do on today’s Mini Crossword? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
