Vanna White was initially skeptical about Ryan Seacrest becoming the new host of “Wheel of Fortune.”
during this weekend's episode CBS Sunday MorningWhite, 67, spoke about his working relationship with Seacrest, 49, after recording his first episode of the game show without Pat Sajak, 77.
“I've known Ryan for probably 20 years,” White said. “But in the last couple of months, we've done some traveling together for shows, and we've gotten to know each other a little better.”
“So, I think we have good chemistry,” he added.
When asked if she was “nervous” about the chemistry between her and Seacrest, the beloved letter-writer responded, “I didn’t know what to expect, because I’ve been with the same person for so long.”
“I was really scared, but he's doing a great job,” she said.
White has been on “Wheel of Fortune” since 1982. Last year, Sajak, 77, announced he was retiring from the show after 41 seasons.
When Seacrest was announced as the new host, rumors circulated that he and White did not get along.
A source claimed about White, “She doesn't get along with Ryan like she did with Pat, and no one expected her to.” daily Mail. “There is no way he could do that.”
However, a source close to Seacrest told The Post, “There is no truth to this story. Ryan and Vanna have started working together and are having a good time on set.”
White later denied the feud allegations by sharing a photo of herself heading to dinner with Seacrest in July.
“Friends on and off camera,” he captioned the photo.
It was Seacrest's first day on the game show's set in July. According to CBS Sunday Morning, the “American Idol” host seemed “comfortable” in his new TV job.
“It's an incredible, special franchise,” he told the morning news program about “Wheel of Fortune.”
Seacrest said, “This isn't just a TV show. This is something that matters to people. And when I found out this was an opportunity for me, I didn't give it any second thoughts. It was like, 'Absolutely. Let's figure this out, and let's get started.' “
First white told TV Insider He thought about retiring after Sajak announced his exit from the show, but he signed a contract extension to remain on the program through the 2025–2026 season.
Discussing the loss of her longtime TV partner, White said, “I can't explain how I feel. I'm happy for him. I can't imagine doing the show without him after 41 years. I think of it as reading a good book. There's always got to be an ending. It's the best book I've ever read.”
“Wheel of Fortune” Season 42 premieres Sept. 9.
