You are not the only one who is stuck on single tick on WhatsApp! The messaging app is currently down and users are unable to send or receive messages. It seems that WhatsApp’s app has been shut down globally, as users around the world are taking to social media to check if this is the case.
I checked my Galaxy Z Fold 6, and I was unable to send messages. Whereas a friend of mine on another Android phone was able to do the same. Therefore, it is possible that WhatsApp is partially shutting down. I am keeping an eye on the matter and checking with more of our colleagues globally to see the reach of the outage. Many users have also applied to DownDetector to report that the app is not working for them.
As it happens every time, users are taking a break from personal communication to talk about the app being down on another app – X. You can check out some of these X posts below:
I’m running to X to see if WhatsApp is down.
it is.

It seems that apart from WhatsApp, Meta’s other products, including Facebook, Instagram and Threads, are still experiencing the outage. So, if you’re facing problems scrolling through Instagram reels or missing out on seeing your friend’s wedding photos, then again, you’re not alone! X (formerly Twitter) is full of memes and posts about Facebook and Instagram being down.
