2 killed after SUV collides with driver going wrong direction on Long Island Parkway



Two people were killed in a wrong-way car crash on a major Long Island highway Wednesday night.

According to New York State, 28-year-old Byron DeJesus Alvizars Cifuentes was driving his 2013 Honda Civic northbound on the Meadowbrook State Parkway near Hempstead about 11:30 a.m. when he was struck by a 2020 Nissan Rogue going in the wrong direction. Police.

The driver of the Nissan, Timothy Peter Reed, 64, of Huntington, was alone when he somehow crossed into the northbound lanes of the highway, authorities said.

Both the persons died on the spot.

Police have not released any cause for the accident, which is still being investigated by state police.
