30% Increase In Indian Students Going To US For Education – Trak.in

The United States has solidified its position as the premier destination for Indian students pursuing higher education. According to Gloria Berbena, the U.S. Minister Counsellor for Public Diplomacy, 69% of Indian students prefer studying in the U.S. over other countries. This preference is reflected in the impressive 30% increase in Indian student enrollment over the past year, with Indian students now forming the largest group of graduate-level enrollees in the country.

Significant Growth in Enrollment Across Education Levels

The upward trend in Indian student enrollment is evident not only at the graduate level but also among undergraduates. Berbena highlighted that last year, over 200,000 Indian students were enrolled in U.S. universities and colleges, making India the leading country in sending students to the U.S. This growth underscores the strong educational ties between the two nations and the high regard Indian students have for U.S. educational institutions.

EducationUSA Fairs: Guiding Students Through the Application Process

To support students in navigating the complex process of studying in the U.S., a series of EducationUSA fairs are being held across India. These fairs provide an invaluable resource for prospective students, offering guidance on application procedures, visa timelines, and costs. Over 125 American institutions will participate in the upcoming fair in Delhi, where advisors will emphasize that students can access free services and do not need to rely on agents or intermediaries.

Exploring Affordable and Lesser-Known Colleges

EducationUSA is encouraging students to explore beyond the well-known, prestigious institutions and consider state-level colleges that are both excellent and more affordable. With over 4,500 accredited higher education institutions in the U.S., there are numerous opportunities for students to find a school that aligns with their academic interests, financial resources, and career goals.

Prioritizing Student Visas Amid Post-COVID Challenges

Berbena also addressed the challenges posed by the post-COVID surge in visa demand, which initially created strain on the system. However, the U.S. has made student visas a priority, leading to reduced wait times across consulates. The recent opening of a new consulate in Hyderabad, with additional consulates planned in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, is expected to further streamline the visa process, making it more accessible for Indian students.

In conclusion, the U.S. continues to be a preferred destination for Indian students due to its robust educational opportunities and streamlined visa processes. Through initiatives like the EducationUSA fairs, Indian students are better equipped to navigate their educational journey in the U.S. with confidence and clarity.
