What to watch on Netflix this week
Pleasure (2024)
coming to netflix: Friday
All three of our picks this week are movies, and next up on Netflix UK I’ve had my eye on since seeing a teaser earlier this year is Joy, a biopic that tells the medical breakthrough story of the birth of Baby Brown. , the world’s first “test-tube baby.” With acting assistance from Bill Nighy, James Norton and Thomasin McKenzie, director Ben Taylor brings this now relatively unremarkable achievement to our screens.
The film recently screened at the London Film Festival, where it received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics in attendance. The Daily Mail was one of those positive reviews. Brian Winer says in his four star review“The challenge of the film is to make the myriad complexities of early IVF research accessible to today’s audience. It does this well, striking an easy balance between the serious medical jargon required to give authenticity to the story…”
