Badri was Puri Jagannadh’s directorial debut. According to News18, Puri had narrated the story to Nagarjuna, whom he had earlier worked with as an assistant director. However, it was Pawan Kalyan who ended up starring in the romantic action film. Nevertheless, the actor-director duo collaborated later on in Shivamani and Super.
5. Mouna Ragam
Mouna Ragam is another Mani Ratnam directorial that Nagarjuna rejected. The romantic drama film was Ratnam’s filmmaking breakthrough and starred Mohan, Revathi and Karthik. Mouna Ragam went on to become a box office success and even won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil.
However, Nagarjuna would go on to work with Mani a few years later in Geethanjali. The cult romantic drama film was a blockbuster and won the National Film Award for Best Popular Feature Film. Geethanjali is considered among Nagarjuna’s landmark works.
