“Saturday Night Live” alum Anna Gasteyer has a story to share about Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The 57-year-old comedian appeared on Wednesday’s episode “Las Culturistas” PodcastHosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, and claimed the disgraced 55-year-old rapper “shut down the entire building” when he was the musical guest on “SNL” in May 1998.
“You can tell like five A-holes in the six years that I was there when they’ll be like, ‘There’s so-and-so in the building, everyone lives in your dressing room.’ That applies if you’re a presidential candidate,” Gasteyer said. “But other than that, really, this is my house.”
He added, “For P. Diddy, he demanded a completely closed set.”
Gasteyer, who was a cast member in sketch comedy series From 1996 to 2002, Combs sang “Come with Me” with Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page on the show.
He said that on Thursday, the day before the show, fellow actor Will Ferrell decided to dress up like a character named Ron and crash Combs’ rehearsal.
“He walked down the stairs, and he walked right in,” the “Mean Girls” star shared. “And I have video from the control room where Sean Combs is rapping behind me like ‘Da-na-na, da-na-na, da-na-na, da-na-na.’ And Ron’s wandering around, looking really lost.”
Gasteyer called Ferrell, 57, disrupting Combs’ rehearsal “the greatest thing that ever happened” and said the music executive “deserved” it.
“He didn’t roll with it,” Gasteyer recalled of Combs. He was very uncomfortable. But it was also just like the trickery of all that fake importance.
“Like what’s going to happen?” She moved forward. “You’ll walk into the studio and you’ll say, ‘I’m in the studio. I work here.'”
