A barred owl descended the chimney of an Arlington, Virginia, home and built a perfectly seasonal roost atop a Christmas tree, an amazing photo shows.
The photo, which went viral online, captures the nocturnal visitor staring at the camera with black eyes like the ghost of Christmas past.
The feathered intruder knocked over the Christmas star to make room for his big rear.
“I went into our kitchen and there was a big owl sitting on our kid’s high chair,” homeowner Savannah Burgoyne said. nbc washington,
When he shooed her away, the owl flew to the top of the Christmas tree for a more suitable seat.
“It’s a magical Christmas moment to feel cozy on top of the Christmas tree,” said mom.
According to the outlet, the six-year-old daughter was happy with the owl’s presence.
The owl was removed from its home by local authorities and released back into the wild.
