A Tribe Called Quest Sees Two Albums Return To The Charts Thanks To The Olympics

A Tribe Called Quest is one of the most revered groups in hip-hop history. They changed the sound and vibe of the genre decades ago, helping to introduce their unique style to millions. Their work soundtracked everything from clubs to breakdances, and thanks to the group’s connection to the latter art form, the rappers are back on the charts.

It makes sense that A Tribe Called Quest would be featured prominently at the 2024 Olympics, where breakdancing was included as a sport for the very first time. The group’s songs were chosen by a number of athletes to soundtrack their performances, and fans in the U.K. have responded by returning to the group’s most popular collections following the end of the games.

Two of A Tribe Called Quest’s releases return to the same chart in the U.K. this week. Coincidentally, they both manage to appear in new peak positions, as they’re more popular than ever—at least when looking at one ranking.

A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory reappears on the Official Hip-Hop & R&B Albums chart this week at No. 3. The set has managed just three turns on the list of the bestselling rap, hip-hop, and R&B full-lengths in the country, and it came very close to running the show this time around.

A little further down on the same list comes The Anthology. The group’s greatest hits compilation is back at No. 18. That’s also a height the title has never seen before in the U.K., at least not on the Official Hip-Hop & R&B Albums roster.

A Tribe Called Quest sees The Low End Theory also debut on several other tallies in the U.K. this frame. The project is a brand new top 10 smash on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, where it blasts in at No. 8.

The Low End Theory also appears for the very first time on two additional rankings, though it doesn’t quite reach the loftiest tier. A Tribe Called Quest breaks onto the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 20. It also sold well enough to nearly match that showing on the Official Albums Sales list, where it launches at No. 22.
