A knife-wielding maniac allegedly stabbed a man in the back at a Manhattan subway station because he accidentally bumped into him on the stairs – but was released without bail on Tuesday.
Police said Raymond Kwok, 27, brutally stabbed his 29-year-old male victim to death at the L train entrance on 14th Street and First Avenue in the East Village on Sept. 20 shortly before 9 p.m.
Officials said the victim was trying to go down the station stairs when he accidentally bumped into Kwok, who was wielding a knife, and a scuffle broke out between the two.
Police said Kwok then stabbed the victim in the back with a knife and fled.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition for stitches following the attack, which was captured on surveillance video.
Kwok, who lives in the East Village, was arrested Sept. 23 at the same subway station — where Manhattan prosecutors revealed Tuesday that police found three knives, including a switchblade, in his pockets.
He was charged with second-degree assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Prosecutors were seeking to hold Kwok on $25,000 cash bail, but Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Michael Gaffey decided to release him on supervised release even though the charges were bailable.
Kwok is due to appear in court again on Oct. 31.
