Meet the cute crooked-faced pooch who’s been compared to Picasso’s masterpiece and has celebrity fans including Amanda Seyfried.
Amanda Richter, 34, fell in love with tramp brody5, when he saw it on a rescue page.
The German Shepard, Mastiff, Pitbull Terrier and Rottweiler mix was bitten by his mother as a puppy – leaving his face disfigured and partially blind in one eye.
But the British Columbia photographer thought Brody was “perfect” and loved that he looked somewhat like “Picasso’s masterpiece”.
“He is a courageous little boy. “He makes me laugh,” Richter said. “He is a bundle of energy and carefree. I often get comments that he looks just like the cartoon dogs we used to draw as kids. He’s not perfect but he’s still loved. It’s not about what’s outside. That dog has the biggest heart. He is perfect for me.”
As soon as Amanda saw a post on Brody by Old MacDonald Kennels in Alberta, Canada she knew she had to get Brody.
Brody’s jaw was partially locked but it had no effect on him.
“He has no idea he’s different,” Richter said. “He is full of life. He wants to play all the time. She’s also very smart,” Amanda said.
Amanda shared Brodie online with the account @bestboybrodie and one of her followers sent her a rescue dog who was a striking resemblance to him.
“They’re soulmates,” Richter said.
Three-year-old Raven, Husky and German Shepard mix, Fuzzy came to join the family in February 2022 after being rescued from Texan Animal Rescue.
“Brody was scared of Raven at first,” Richter said. “Raven was from an abusive home. When I found her she was scared. Eventually they warmed up to each other. Now they are inseparable. They play together. It is a brother-sister relationship.”
Brody’s celebrity followers include Leona Lewis and Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump.
“I think it’s hilarious,” Richter said.
They hope that sharing Brody will send a message and encourage others to save dogs who aren’t “perfect.”
“It’s okay to not be perfect. I hope people will go and rescue dogs that aren’t perfect,” Richter said.
