An Alabama mother and son are accused of slapping an elderly passenger aboard an MSC cruise ship before being thrown off the boat in Jamaica for “excessive behaviour”, according to a report.
Kelly Lynn Ryan, 49, and her son Dylan Ryan were allegedly caught on surveillance video assaulting the victim on an MSC cruise out of Miami on October 6. Local10 reported.
According to authorities, Dylan was removed from the MSC Seascape cruise ship at the first port of call in Falmouth, Jamaica, due to unspecified “excessive behavior” the following day.
But his mother was allowed to continue the week-long voyage because the ship stopped in Grand Cayman Island; Cozumel, Mexico and MSC Ocean Cay – the cruise company’s private island in the Bahamas.
When the Seascape returned to Miami on Saturday, October 12, Kelly was arrested by Miami-Dade police shortly after landing, a local Florida news station reported.
He was arrested for assault on a person 65 years of age or older.
According to footage obtained by police, Kelly allegedly slapped the victim in the ship’s two-deck theater after an altercation around 9:30 pm on October 6.
According to Local10, the ship’s deputy chief of security told police that his son was also seen in the clip hitting the victim multiple times.
Police have not released details about what led to the altercation and whether the victim and Ryan Cruz knew each other before leaving.
MSC Cruises and Miami-Dade police did not immediately respond to Post inquiries.
