January 2025 is shaping up to be a very busy month for Netflix releases, and one of the titles currently on the list to go is all five seasons of the show (consisting of 65 episodes). MagicianWhich will depart from Netflix US on January 15, your last day of viewing will be January 14. However, the removal only applies to Netflix US, as no other regions stream the show.
The series, which aired between 2015 and 2020, comes from Sera Gamble and John McNamara (the former of whom continued to develop) Youwhich became a huge Netflix hit) and follows the life of Quentin Coldwater, who has enrolled in a new magic school to train as a magician. The cast includes Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hal Appleman, Arjun Gupta and Summer Bishil.
Netflix picked up the show under Netflix’s old output deal with NBC Universal and some of its sister channels like USA Network and in this case Syfy. Netflix first acquired the show on December 26, 2016, with new seasons added every year thereafter, except for the fifth and final season, which arrived on Netflix in 2020 (due to COVID) on January 15, 2021.

If you’re planning on rewatching over the holiday period and are on Netflix’s ad tier, you’ll be out of luck. Like most Universal Television shows, the show is currently blocked at the ad level, meaning the only way to watch it is to upgrade your Netflix subscription.
It’s unclear where the show will air next, and looking at other Syfy titles that were previously on Netflix, their rights are all over the place. Prime Video, Tubi, AMC+, Pluto TV, Peacock, and The CW are among the few places that are streaming, so you’ll want to use a service like JustWatch to keep track of show moves after Netflix.
