“I tried to dye my beard to make my wife look younger because she’s 12 years younger than me,” Scott, of Nashua, New Hampshire, tells NeedTuno.
“I had some gray hairs that I wanted to get rid of, but it was a disaster.
“I woke up the next morning and Katrina said I looked like a sloth from Goonies. She said I needed to go to the hospital.
“My white pillow had turned yellow with pus and I felt as if my head had been attacked with an anvil. It was terrible.
“I thought I looked like Popeye because my head was so swollen. I was feeling dizzy, nervous, lethargic and not aware of anything around me.”
Doctors told Scott he had gone into anaphylactic shock.
“When I got to the hospital they realized I was in anaphylactic shock and they took me in right away,” he said. “I could die.”
He claims doctors told him the symptoms were due to a reaction to beard dye.
After treatment with antibiotics, Scott was released from the hospital the same day, but had to take 10 days off work to recover.
She says she contacted L’Oréal customer service via phone two days later, but claims the brand has not apologized or provided any compensation for the days she had to take off work.
“I want to spread awareness so that people know that there are chemicals in these colors,” he said. “No one should almost die from a hair product.”
