An unruly passenger aboard an American Airlines flight from Milwaukee to Dallas on Tuesday allegedly charged at a flight attendant and tried to open the plane door in midair — forcing fellow passengers to restrain him with duct tape.
According to the police report, the man on Flight 1915 got up from his seat and told the flight attendant that he needed to get off the plane. Received by local ABC affiliate station WFAA,
When the crew member told him it was not possible, he became louder and angrier and then ran at the employee to try to reach the cabin door, the report said.
According to the documents, the flight attendant was able to restrain him, and three passengers jumped in to help control the unruly passenger.
The group pinned the Flyer down and used duct tape from the onboard flight kit to bind his wrists and ankles to restrain him.
A DFW spokesperson said that when the flight landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Department of Public Safety police officers boarded the plane and took the man into custody.
He was removed from the plane in a wheelchair and sent for a mental health evaluation, the report said.
The flight attendant who was allegedly charged by the unruly passenger was brought to the hospital for neck and wrist injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.
