The teen was part of the Los Osos High School dance team that wowed everyone with their performance on America's Got Talent in August.
The group made it to the quarter-finals and were eliminated last month.
She received a standing ovation from judge Simon Cowell who said the performance was “absolutely brilliant”.
“The first thing I liked about it was the energy. I think what I just saw was everything a great school should be doing, which is encouraging talent and friendship.
“It reminded me of watching the movie High School Musical and thinking that every kid should go to a school like that.”
After his final performance, Gold spoke to People about the performance.
“When I'm performing, I'm really thinking about all the improvisations because we get improvisations until five minutes before we go on stage,” she told the outlet on August 13.
“So really thinking about all of that so we can implement them is my biggest priority on the platform.”
She said it was “definitely hard” to balance dancing with her school work.
After his death, Gould's community created a gofundme page to support her family.
“With great sadness we share that our Los Osos grizzly Emily Gould has passed away,” the description reads.
“Let’s come together as a community and support the Gould family during this difficult time.
“Please know that this money will go directly to support the family and help with expenses.”
