Squash! That! Beef!
Andy Cohen had to resolve his years-long feud with Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday night's episode. “Watch what happens live.”
The tension between the pair began on New Year's Eve 2021, when Cohen, who was anchoring live from Times Square for CNN, shaded Seacrest's rival NYE broadcast on ABC.
The following year, Seacrest, 49, claimed that Cohen, 56, “ignored” her during a New Year's Eve broadcast.
“I don't even remember what the fight was about,” Cohen, 56, told Seacrest on the Bravo talk show, which aired late this week.
“I don't even know,” said Seacrest, who appeared on the show with “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White.
“But we looked at each other and shook hands,” Cohen clarified.
Seacrest agreed with the “Real Housewives” franchise producer's explanation of their drama.
“We did all that,” he said. “All I said was will you be there this year. We will be. We will shake hands. We can't get close to each other, otherwise we will hug.”
“But no,” Seacrest said, “everything has been good.”
Cohen said he believed “this controversy is over.”
“The beef has been squashed,” Seacrest agreed.
On NYE 2021, Cohen went off on Seacrest while he was co-hosting “New Year's Eve Live” on CNN with his BFF Anderson Cooper.
“Ryan Seacrest's bunch of losers performing behind us,” he said at the time, a reference to “Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve with Ryan Seacrest.”
He added, “I mean, with all due respect, if you're watching ABC tonight, you haven't seen anything. I'm sorry.”
Cohen later apologized to Seacrest via a January 2022 episode of his radio show on SiriusXM, “Andy Cohen Live,” He claimed the comments were taken out of context.
He clarified at the time, “The only thing I regret saying is that I criticized the ABC broadcast, and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he's a great guy.”
“I'm really sorry to say that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling that way,” Cohen said.
But the drama continued when Seacrest claimed on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” in January 2023 that Cohen “ignored” him during the New York Eve broadcast.
“And Anderson, the best,” the “American Idol” host added. “He turns and says, ‘Have a good show.’ That’s great. Andy didn’t look back.” Cohen is good friends with Seacrest’s former “Live” co-host Kelly Ripa.
Cohen later claimed he hadn't even seen Seacrest and that the star was upset with him.
A few days later, the disagreement between the two was resolved, as Cohen called into Seacrest's “On Air” radio show, where the two agreed that they were not “feuding.”
Cohen even said made fun of the fight Hosting a CNN special from Times Square on NYE 2023.
“I just want to point out that I made a lot of effort. We shook hands with Seacrest. He saw us shake hands, so he can't say I disrespected him,” Cohen said.
“I'm keeping it very clear. We shook hands. The connection has been made,” father of two children Added.
When Cooper, 57, called out his friend for “stirring the pot,” Cohen replied, “Not really. Just keeping it clean. I'm keeping my side of the street clean this year.”
