“I've reinvented myself many times, and this time, I'm going to be a ballroom dancer.”
And judge Carrie Ann Inaba addressed the elephant in the room during her critiques.
“I just want to say something. The energy in this room changed when you came out on the dance floor,” Inaba said. “And I just want to say let's all give this a chance, because I can imagine this is scary for you, and I'm not pro or pro or con of anything you've done. But here's to your dancing.”
Summing up his thoughts on Delvey’s “DWTS” debut when time ran out, he said, “Let’s all give her that space, please.”
Delvey revealed that when she was cast in the series, she received special permission from ICE, which detained her in 2021, to compete under the condition that she wear the device. Delvey had previously served time in state prison and paid restitution before her February 2021 release.

I think the hardest part of my day was after the press line, she was reading the comments and we couldn't find her. She was finally found in the bathroom. She was crying. I had never seen her like that, and it broke my heart.”
On Tuesday's episode, Delvey's friend, actress Julia Fox, echoed her colleague's sentiments and explained that Delvey's tough exterior was a form of self-protection.
“Even though Anna has this tough exterior, it's clearly a defense mechanism,” Fox said to the cameras.
