Students stood in a circle and prayed together after being evacuated from school following a deadly shooting at Apalachee High School in north Georgia, as horrifying footage showed.
More than 40 students were photographed Wednesday holding hands and standing in a circle on the school's football field.
According to the photographs, the students had their heads bowed and were seen praying. Captured by WSB-TV,
Prayer circles were also seen forming among the students on the ground.
At least four people were killed and 30 injured when a gunman opened fire at the school in Winder, about an hour northeast of Atlanta, around 10:30 a.m., CNN reported.
It's unclear if all the injuries were from gunfire.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the gunman had been “neutralized.”
The attacker is said to be a school-going boy, but it is unclear whether the attacker was studying in high school or not.
Classes had been going on for about a month when the deadly attack occurred.
About an hour after the shooting, students were evacuated from the school and dismissed.
Sergio Caldera, a 17-year-old senior at the school, said, told ABC News He was in chemistry class when they heard gunfire.
“My teacher goes and opens the door and sees what's going on. Another teacher runs in and tells her to close the door because there's an active shooter,” Caldeira said, recalling how someone started banging on their door and yelling “Open the door!”
Then the knocking stopped, and gunfire and screams filled the classroom.
