Apple users are making NSFW emojis with new Genmoji app

Looks like we’ve got some bad apples.

iPhone users are creating inappropriate emojis using Apple’s new Genmoji feature. The Generative AI Emoji tool allows iPhone users to create custom emoji using simple text prompts.

Genmoji – a generative AI emoji – allows iPhone users to create custom emoji using simple text gestures.

However, since the tool’s beta release, it seems the company may have underestimated the extent to which users will push its limits despite Apple’s built-in security.

To create a Genmoji, iPhone users should open the Messages app, tap the emoji icon, start typing a description in the text field, and then tap “Create New Emoji.”

After a few seconds, several options will appear waiting to be selected.

iPhone users have had success creating everything from guns to drugs and even suggestive eggplant emojis.

While some of the X-rated emoji required a little creativity to generate, others were surprisingly simple. For example, one user reported creating a realistic rifle by typing “hunting gear”, and another was able to create a handgun simply by entering “gun”.

This is especially surprising given that Apple has a history of censoring gun-related emojis, including replacing the traditional firearm with a plastic water pistol.

One of the most popular “hacks” involves creating suggestive eggplant emojis.

Mischievous users discovered that an error message came up when entering “eggplant”, causing the tool to cheer when they used “eggplant” instead.

One user shared a screenshot of a Genmoji that read, “Eggplant is oozing water”, leading to a wave of equally suggestive images of eggplant and peach emojis on social media, including them being held, licked , eaten and dipped in liquids and creams.

Other users also created emojis resembling cannabis leaves, condoms and even poppers.

Some users also used Genmoji to generate likenesses of public figures, including Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

One commenter predicted, “This will be censored soon, mark my words,” acknowledging that Apple may not be able to afford an unexpected flood of inappropriate emojis.

One Reddit user echoed this sentiment, “By the time the rest of us get access, people posting about it will be so far gone.”

Zenmojis was recently released to a select few people as a part of Apple Intelligence, a new suite of AI features that launched with iOS 18.1.

This feature, like other Apple Intelligence features, is available only on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, along with all iPhone 16 variants.

While the beta period gives Apple time to refine the tool, it also gives users a chance to continue testing its limits before public release.
