In January this year, Nadeem had to request the Pakistan government to help him purchase a new javelin, as his old one was worn out, and he could not afford a replacement.
Career milestones
Nadeem began competing in professional javelin in 2015, and just a year later, his potential was recognised with a scholarship from World Athletics, allowing him to train at the IAAF High Performance Training Centre in Mauritius.
The athlete’s first major success came in February 2016, when he won a bronze medal at the South Asian Games in Guwahati. His performance continued to improve, and by August 2018, he had secured another bronze medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta.
In December 2019, Nadeem won a gold medal at the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal. In 2021, he made history by becoming the first Pakistani track and field athlete to qualify for the Olympics, representing his country at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
In 2022, his career reached new heights when he set a national and Commonwealth Games record with a throw of 90.18 metres, winning the gold medal. In 2023, he won a silver medal at the World Athletics Championships, becoming the first Pakistani to win a medal at this prestigious event.
Arshad Nadeem’s net worth
According to OneIndia and other publicly available data, the javelin thrower has a net worth of approximately $2 million as of 2024. It can be noted that javelin throw is a sport that often lacks financial rewards, with most competitions awarding medals instead of prize money to winners. However, there are exceptions. Nadeem, for instance, earned $35,000 (approximately Rs 29 lakh) as prize money for winning a silver medal at the World Athletics Championship in 2023, according to DNA. However, after winning gold in Paris, cash rewards have been pouring for Arshad.
