For ready-to-wear, Jones played with the silhouettes of the sixties and seventies, which were seen in single-breasted jackets, flared trousers, zipped wool jumpsuits, shorts paired with a suit jacket, knitwear that was like a second skin, almost like a leotard, and sleeveless sheer tanks.
Ballet shoes and accessories
Jones had the models walk the runway in crossed ballet shoes, a masculine version of a dancer’s footwear. Mary-Janes were reinterpreted in the form of leather sneakers and were paired with high socks in bright colours.
When it comes to accessories, the highlights of the men’s fall 2024 collection were the headgear–the velvet hats that were originally designed by Stephen Jones in 1999 for womenswear and an updated, everyday version of a twisted silk jersey dancer’s turban.
The front row
As always, the front row was studded with celebrities who came in support of Jones. The front row included Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, actor Nicolas Hoult, South Korean boy band Tomorrow X Together, also known as TXT, supermodel Kate Moss with daughter Lila Moss, and musician Rita Ora, among others.
The New Look
On another note, a new series is coming out that traces the life of Christian Dior and his contemporaries. Created by Todd A. Kessler, the show is a biographical drama digging deeper into how Dior created his fashion line that was unofficially named the New Look. The series’ designs, clothing and costumes are created in collaboration with the French label. The show stars actor Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and will be released on 14th February on Apple TV+.
