American news anchor Chauncey Glover has died “unexpectedly” at the age of 39.
His family confirmed the news in a statement KCAL NewsLos Angeles outlet for which the three-time Emmy Award winner worked.

The statement did not disclose the cause of his death.
“We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncey’s loving family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncey,” the statement said.
“He was more than a son and brother – he was a ray of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”
The family addressed his passion for the Chauncey Glover Project, a comprehensive, practical mentoring program focused on helping black and Latino boys develop into “outstanding and accomplished men.”
His family said, “Chauncey’s compassion and dedication to helping others, especially through the Chauncey Glover Project, changed countless lives and inspired many young people to pursue their dreams.”
“His talent, warmth and vision left an imprint on everyone who knew him, and the world is bleaker without him.”
“While we mourn this profound loss, we are consoled by the love and memories shared by those who knew Chauncey as a passionate, talented soul.
“We ask for privacy as we mourn and honor his incredible legacy. He was taken from us too soon, but his impact will always be felt.”
Chauncey worked in Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Texas before joining KCAL in California.
KCAL said in a statement: “Anchor and Emmy Award-winning journalist Chauncey Glover has died unexpectedly at the age of 39.
“For the past year, he has co-anchored the 5 and 11 p.m. newscasts with Pat Harvey and shared the desk with Suzie Suh at the KCAL News at 8 and 10 p.m.
“Along with his passion for journalism, Chauncey also focused on the communities he served, whether through his storytelling or his outreach.”
Glover joined the KCAL news anchor team in October 2023 after working for eight years in Houston.
He was the first black male main evening anchor at Houston’s KTRK.

A fourth wrote: “I loved seeing her every night. I am in disbelief”.
