Ben Affleck doesn't seem stressed about missing his movie's premiere at the Toronto Film Festival — because he won't have to face his future ex-wife Jennifer Lopez.
The 52-year-old Oscar winner was all smiles as she headed into her office in Los Angeles on Friday, Sept. 6; the same day as the release of “Unstoppable,” the sports film Lopez produced with Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, in which she also stars.
Affleck arrived at his office wearing a navy blue suit, a light button-up and brown shoes. He also carried a black weekend bag — presumably in case he decides to go to a film festival at the last minute.
The “Good Will Hunting” star finished his look with sleek aviator sunglasses, but his best accessory was his smile.
Affleck was greeted by a colleague wearing a white suit jacket, who gave the actor a hug before heading through the building's doors.
The movie star appeared to be in good spirits despite the buzz surrounding his ongoing divorce and “Unstoppable.”
While Affleck reportedly won't attend Friday's premiere, his ex-wife and best friend are expected to attend. Lopez will make her first major appearance since filing for divorce on the two-year anniversary of their second marriage.
She is reportedly “excited” to attend the premiere of “Unstoppable” without her ex-husband and it seems she has no hesitation about facing her Hollywood best friend, Damon.
“Jennifer is excited to go to the Toronto Film Festival to promote the film because 'Unstoppable' means so much to her that she wants to support it,” a source told IANS. daily Mail earlier this week.
“It's a true life story that is very inspiring and he is proud to be a part of it. Acting in the film was a high point for him,” the source added.
“Unstoppable” is the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles. He was born with one leg and overcame the odds by winning the 2011 NCAA Individual Wrestling National Championship. Lopez plays Robles’ mother in the film and Jharrel Jerome plays the wrestling champion.
Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Michael Pena also star in the film.
“The film is getting a lot of attention and Jennifer wants it to do its best. She is very professional and always works hard to give her films the best chance,” the source added.
The insider claimed that the trip will reportedly be a quick one for Lopez because “she won't be in Toronto for very long as she has other things to attend to.”
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on August 20, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the separation. She did not reveal whether or not she signed a prenuptial agreement before the two got married in 2022; however, sources claimed they did not.
Without a prenup, insiders warned that the divorce battle could get “ugly,” mainly because all income, profits, and assets earned during their marriage could be considered community property. Lopez also declared that her net worth was “unknown” when she filed.
This is the fourth divorce for Lopez. Before Affleck, she was married to actor Ojani Noa from 2017-2018, backup dancer Cris Judd from 2002 and singer Marc Anthony from 2004-2014, with whom she shares 16-year-old twins Emme and Max.
Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018. They have three children: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
