It’s been a busy year for Netflix Games, now its third year of releasing free mobile games as part of your Netflix subscription. The growing library notably surpassed 100 mobile titles this year, and there were some real gems in the lineup. So, what’s your time worth? Here are our picks for the top 5 game additions of 2024.
Note: This is being published before Squid Game: Unleashed, which we haven’t played yet. If that game exceeds expectations, we’ll add it to this list. I also play Netflix games on the OnePlus 11 and Samsung S24.

5. Netflix Stories: Outer Banks
Boss Fight Entertainment has been the most productive game studio for Netflix this year, continuing to aggressively expand its lineup of stories within the Netflix Stories app. When all is said and done, by the end of 2024, they will be releasing eight new titles on their app, each based on popular IPs like virgin river, selling sunsetAnd Emily in ParisWhat I got most this year was outer Banks, Which was tied in perfectly with the split release of Season 4 later this year, with the game releasing slap bang in the middle of that exciting wait.
Most Netflix Stories games follow a familiar premise. It’s a light-dating/choose-your-own-adventure game where the choices you make will depend on how familiar cast members from the show will react to you within the game. The story of this game is set during Season 1, taking you back to the events that happened throughout that season. There are 18 chapters to play through, and it serves as a perfect rewatch tool for you if you want to go back or want a good introduction to the show for newcomers.
3. monument valley 3
monument Valley Fans with Netflix subscriptions have had a lot of celebration this year. The previous two entries, which hit Netflix Games in the fall, were released back-to-back. On December 10, Netflix exclusively released the third entry, which followed in the footsteps of the two prior entries, but managed to justify its existence and shine as the best entry in the franchise by building on some great new game mechanics on the established formula. Adequately added to. ,
Everything that’s been said about the previous games applies to the third game: the award-winning puzzle designs still amaze, the stunning visuals are simple but effective, and the sound design and musical score are top notch. The game plays well with responsive controls, even if it’s not intuitive if you’re new to it. monument ValleyPerformance-wise, most of the game was smooth as butter for me, although I did experience a few moments of lag occasionally.
3. ted tumblewords
Netflix teaming up with TED for a mobile game definitely wasn’t in my 2024 bingo card. It seems like an odd collaboration, but we’re glad it happened because this is Netflix’s best “daily” game yet. Aiming to make an impact in a world of word games dominated by The New York Times, this simple and aesthetically pleasing game challenges you to slide lines to spell different words. Simple in concept but highly addictive, it offers different modes of play including multiplayer. We suspect that it has already become a regular part of many people’s daily routine.
Frosty Pop is the developer behind it in collaboration with TED, the creator of some other addictive games in Netflix’s backlist of 100+ titles.
2. Civilization VI
Netflix lacks a GTA-equivalent (though there are two left) blockbuster games to really surprise you in 2024. What came closest? I argue that this mobile port has been changed again Civilization VI The closest we got to a blockbuster. Selling itself as the definitive edition of the sixth game in the franchise, the turn-based strategy game moves to bring all the bells and whistles of the other versions to your phone, and for the most part, that’s what’s on offer here for consoles and computers. But at par with their counterparts.
The Netflix release includes all of the expansion packs and content included in the Platinum Edition of the game and does not rely on the second version’s clunky ads, which remains available on the App Store despite the move to Netflix. Without those constraints, the addictive nature of the game will lead you to converse with Queen Victoria of England, start a nuclear war with Gandhi, and chat with Teddy Roosevelt in the wee hours of the morning.
Unfortunately, from what we’ve read, there are still some teething issues on select devices, but if you have the hardware to play Civ on your phone, this is the surefire way to do it, and you won’t have to worry about it so to speak. The problem will not be itself, as in “just one more turn”
1. paper trail
Puzzle games already feature prominently on this list, and we’re happy to say that our favorite new Netflix game of this year fits right into that category, too. The top-down puzzle adventure released on consoles and PC earlier this year, as well as being released day and night on Netflix, and arguably, the Netflix version of the game, thanks to the gameplay mechanics, is arguably the best one to play. There is a way.
With puzzles like the aforementioned Monument Valley of Shadows and Echochrome, this game fills you with a number of tasks, but for the most part, it’s all about getting from A to B. To do this, you have to fold, rotate, or twist the world like you would using origami to make things accessible.
Regarding difficulty, I would say paper trail Sitting between easy and medium, some of the puzzles definitely test your brain but remain accessible enough that it doesn’t become frustrating. However, where the game really shines is its visual design. No matter what phone or tablet you have, the game looks absolutely gorgeous, has a pleasant color palette, and has great attention to detail.
We are not alone in praising paper trailerGiven that it was recently selected BAFTA’s list of best games of 2024,
