Some things in life depend on time. For example, the best red light therapy masks come with instructions recommending a 10-minute treatment. I enjoy 10 minute meditation. This is pretty much a wellness match written in the stars.
Similar to red light therapy (which we’ll get to shortly), regular meditation is a magic trick. Meditation works to calm your mind and nervous system, reducing symptoms Depression, improve attention and memory, and Less Blood pressure and cortisol levels. This act forces you into the present moment through mantra and intentional breathing, and it’s basically the key to a better human experience.
It is also challenging. My reluctance to prioritize a practice that has been proven to improve my life is a topic for another time. But of my many self-care steps, these are two that demand (or at least suggest) that I sit quietly. Pairing my red light mask moment with my 10-minute meditation makes this action more accessible to me — and it makes my skin beautiful.

How does it actually work? When used regularly, red light interacts with the skin to stimulate regeneration, therapeuticand support the repair of skin cells collagen production and skin elasticityAnd it does all this without damaging the dermis.
“LED light is different from UV light, which is linked to skin cancer and premature and accelerated aging,” says the dermatologist. whitney boweM.D. “Red LED lights induce changes in the skin through a process called photo-biomodulation, which does not require injury or trauma.”
Most masks also contain near-infrared waves, which penetrate the epidermis and dermis to the hypodermis, activating cells in addition to promoting collagen.
Keep in mind that although these devices take advantage of light, they should never get hot. Bowe suggests stopping the treatment if your skin starts to feel hot, especially if you suffer from hyperpigmentation.
Bowe recommends patients use the mask regularly (daily or 3 to 4 times a week) for at least 6 weeks to give the device a chance to work, though she notes that the effects of tightness may be limited. It may take up to 3 months to fully understand. But in terms of reduction in swelling and redness? You should see those results in a small window.
In my world, red light focus is the best way to enhance both inner and outer glow.
