Biden official addresses resurfaced tweets that were anti-Israel, compared cops to ‘slave patrols’

A new Biden administration official has addressed resurfaced social media posts that compared police to “slave patrols” and supported the anti-Israel movement — saying he wrote them when he was younger and they “do not reflect” his current views.

Department of Interior worker Tyler Cherry’s incendiary tweets began to re-emerge shortly after he was promoted last week to join the White House communications team.

Cherry, who spent three years working under Secretary of the Inferior Deb Haaland, wrote in 2015 amid the death of Freddie Gray, a black man who died in police custody, “Praying for #Baltimore, but praying even harder for an end to a capitalistic police state motivated by explicit and implicit racial biases.”

Months later in another post to X, he wrote, “Time to recall that the modern day police system is a direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs,” according to Fox News Digital.

Several other tweets Cherry penned in 2014 championed the pro-Palestine movement, including one where he wrote, “Cheersing in bars to ending the occupation of Palestine – no shame and f— your glares #ISupportGaza #FreePalestine.”

Other posts from Cherry accused Republicans of being too focused on “white grievance politics” while another explicitly called for the end to ICE.

Cherry addressed his old social media posts on X on Sunday, writing, “Past social media posts from when I was younger do not reflect my current views. Period.”

“I support this Administration’s agenda – and will continue my communications work focused on our climate and environmental policies,” he added.

The White House defended hiring Cherry in a statement to Fox News, with White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates telling them, “We’re very proud to have Tyler on the team.”
