LA28 musical spectacle will be part of the Summer Games closing ceremony in Paris
Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg are among the California-based artists slated to perform during the LA28 Handover musical spectacle that will take place at the finale of the Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony on August 11.
Additionally, Grammy, Oscar- and Emmy-winning artist H.E.R. will perform the U.S. National Anthem live in Paris during the closing ceremony.
Curated to set the stage for the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, the LA28 Countdown will be hosted by five-time Olympic medalist and tennis champion Venus Williams. Beyond the musical performances, the show will feature a sneak peek at the LA28 Games and behind-the-scenes footage.
“This is the biggest moment in LA28 history to date, as the Olympic flag passes from Paris to LA,” said LA28 chairperson and president Casey Wasserman, founder and chair of the Wasserman Media Group. “We are thrilled to feature the very best of LA with local artists and are grateful to Billie, H.E.R., the Chili Peppers and Snoop for their collaboration on what will be an incredible show to a global audience that will give fans a taste of what’s to come in 2028.”
LA28 will also feature Team USA Olympians including two-time Olympic medalist skateboarder Jagger Eaton, mountain biker Kate Courtney and track and field gold medalist Michael Johnson. Other special guests include Olympic legends Carl Lewis and Sugar Ray Leonard, USA Water Polo hall of famer Brenda Villa and Paralympic swimmer and five-time medalist Rudy Garcia-Tolson.
The 2o28 Summer Games mark the third time Los Angeles will host the Olympic Games – the city previously hosted in 1984 and 1932 – and its first time to host the Paralympic Games.
Countdown to LA28 will air on NBC and Peacock at the conclusion of the Closing Ceremony on Sunday, August 11 at 10pm ET/7pm PT.
