Sabato is being generous. This time it's more likely to be from the Democratic Party.
That’s why Robinson should do the right thing — after neglecting to withdraw his name by Thursday night’s deadline — and stop campaigning to be governor.
While the latest findings reported by CNN — in which Robinson described himself as a “Black Nazi,” defended chattel slavery, saying it’s “not bad” because “some people need to be slaves,” and enjoyed “tranny on girl porn” — are uniquely appalling even in this degenerate era of American politics, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard disquieting details about Robinson’s sordid tendencies.
In other words, Robinson was already in danger of “lowering the vote,” as they say, because everything about him was already known before Thursday’s cable-news attack.

“I definitely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote,” Robinson told a group of female Republicans. “All of these women can and do vote.”

Robinson misgendered Michelle Obama, called gay people a “satanic cult” and made vitriolic and racist comments about the film “Black Panther,” calling it “trash … made solely to pull the shekels out of your Schwartz pockets” — using a Yiddish slur for black people — while complaining that African Americans are “so excited about a fictional ‘hero’ created by an agnostic Jew and put into a movie by a Satanic Marxist,” as the Daily Dot reported Report,
And this is just a small example of alleged anti-Semitic incidents.

The deadline to withdraw was after CNN published the latest revelations – but Robinson insisted on staying on. A particularly hollow argument for this is that the ballots had already been printed.
A source close to Trump world denied reports that the former president wanted the man he once described as “Martin Luther King on steroids” to drop out of the race. He said it was “not accurate” that Donald Trump or the campaign had “any role in the request to drop out.”
And as the Jets game kicked off at MetLife on Thursday night, the North Carolina GOP attempted to place a bet.
The party accused “the left” of working to “defame Robinson with personal attacks” and slanderous quotes designed to distract from a “policy contest” about, among other things, “open borders policies” announced by Vice President Kamala Harris.
Speaking of Harris, she's put out a new ad pairing Trump with Robinson that people will see during Election Day broadcasts of “Wheel of Fortune” and (appropriately) “Jeopardy!”
The campaign says it includes “Trump’s lavish praise on Robinson along with Robinson’s extreme comments on abortion, including his support for a complete ban on abortion with no exceptions to protect a woman’s life.”
It also suggests that if Robinson does not step back as an active candidate, the rest of his campaign will be merely an in-kind contribution to Harris, Tim Walz, and the Democratic National Committee.
Trump leads the Tar Heel State by 0.1%, according to FiveThirtyEight's average. One poll may be a snapshot in time, but we have plenty of polls right now that suggest a photo finish.
Trump can win North Carolina even without Robinson. But that's not going to happen if a completely discredited candidate is holding him back.
Mark Robinson would do some good for the former president and the Republicans. He should go away as soon as possible.
