A body was recovered from a Texas lake Thursday during the search for a CrossFit athlete after he vanished mid-competition, authorities said.
Lazar Đukić, 28, was last seen near the end of a live-streamed 800-meter swim at the CrossFit Games in Fort Worth’s Marine Creek Lake Thursday morning, according to Barbell Sports.
Đukić was not believed to have crossed the finish line, the outlet noted.
Seven firefighter units subsequently responded to a possible drowning call at the lakeshore shortly after 8 a.m., the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
First responders pulled a body from the water around 10 a.m., the outlet said.
It was not immediately clear if the body was Đukić’s.
The rest of the day’s events were canceled in an official announcement shortly after 11 a.m. local time, according to Barbell Sports.
Đukić, who is from Serbia, has competed in the CrossFit Games for several years.
He is ranked third in Serbia, and 88th in the world in the male category.
The athlete teased his appearance at the Games on his Instagram in the days leading up to the event. Late Wednesday night, he encouraged his fans to tune into the individual run swim.
Đukić vanished during the swimming portion of the individual run swim, which started with a 3.5-mile run and was capped off by the 800-meter swim.
Photos and videos shared on the CrossFit Games’ Instagram showed hundreds of athletes warming up before sunrise on Thursday.
About 10,000 people from across the world are in Fort Worth for the event, which will run through Sunday, the Star-Telegram noted.
CrossFit officials did not respond to The Post’s request for an update.
