A 4-year-old boy died late Sunday, hours after being found burned, cold and malnourished inside his Harlem apartment — while his mother is being questioned in a suspicious death, police and sources said. .
The boy’s mother called 911 claiming she found her son unconscious inside their apartment on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. According to police and law enforcement sources, near West 144th Street around 7:40 p.m.
Police said the NYPD responded to the scene – as did EMS workers, who took the boy to Harlem Hospital.
According to sources, the hospital medical staff found that the child had burn marks on his chest, was severely malnourished and was suffering from hypothermia.
The boy died in the hospital on Monday morning.
His mother was taken into custody and brought to Harlem’s 32nd Precinct, where she had not been charged as of Monday afternoon.
