Bradley Cooper Returns To Television After 8 Years, Pokes Fun At His Oscar Loss On ‘Abbott Elementary’

Bradley Cooper catapulted himself into the ranks of Hollywood’s most bankable actors by acting in comedies, thrillers, and romantic dramas. He has received numerous honors, such as two Grammy Awards and a British Academy Film Award. He has also been nominated for twelve Academy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award. But, ‘Maestro’ was going to be his labor of love, as he served as the actor and filmmaker in it.

Maestro‘ was a nominee in three Academy Awards categories this year – Best Actor, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Screenplay. Sadly, the film did not win, but eight years later, Cooper returned to television. His post-Oscar appearance in ‘Abbott Elementary‘ on television was hysterical.

The ‘Maestro‘ actor made a brief appearance to perform in the ‘Abbott Elementary‘ cold open, which played right after ABC’s program. The skit opens with a little boy introducing Bradley Cooper as a “very famous person.” When Cooper walks into the classroom, everyone, including the teacher, is surprised by his presence. He recalls going to a nearby location with his father, “Whenever I’m in Philly, you know the deli across the street? That’s my first stop,” the Pennsylvania native says.

Are you in the Spiderman?” asks a child. He responds, “No, but I was in the Guardians of the Galaxy,” and impersonates Rocket.

They even joke about the Oscar-winning movie ‘Oppenhiemer‘, “Guys, he’s literally in a critically acclaimed film right now,” Janine (Quinta Brunson) says, before Melissa adds, “Mhm, ‘Oppenheimer.’” “Is that the one about Napoleon?” asks Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis). “I wasn’t in ‘Oppenheimer,’” Cooper says. Ava (Janelle James) asks, “Are you sure? Everybody was in ‘Oppenheimer.’”

The comedy served as a refreshing change of pace for Bradley Cooper following the Oscars, and his supporters eagerly anticipated his return to television after an eight-year hiatus.

Bradley Cooper received nominations for Best Actor, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Film Oscars for ‘Maestro‘. Despite the fact that he left the ceremony empty-handed, he did win hearts with his performance in the funny post-Oscar skit and his kind decision to bring his mother out to the red carpet. It doesn’t appear like the ‘Abbott Elementary‘ writers were expecting Cooper to win, even though it is clear that the sequence was recorded long in advance of the Oscars. Rather, the sequence gave him a lighthearted opportunity to mock himself following his much-discussed campaign throughout awards season.
