A pair of brutes — one seen walking with a cane — fatally beat a homeless man and beat another with a metal pipe and a baseball bat, police said.
The victims, ages 42 and 38, were relaxing in the parking lot of a supermarket on McDonald Avenue near Avenue I in Mapleton around 7 p.m. on Sept. 18 when they got into an argument with the vicious pair, authorities said.
Police said that after this both the men were brutally beaten with pipes and bats.
The young man, identified as Cos Jervis Jonas Ajapuac, suffered pain and swelling in his legs and stomach after the attack.
Ajapock was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where doctors determined he had internal bleeding.
Just two weeks later, on October 2, he died of his injuries – and the city medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide, authorities said.
Police said that after the beating, the elderly victim suffered injuries on his head and body and he was taken to the same hospital, where his condition was declared stable and then he was released.
The suspects still being held were identified Wednesday night as Francisco Corrocos, 25, and Manuel Perez, 49 — who are known to the victims and frequent the area of McDonald Avenue and Ocean Parkway, police said.
Police released a video of the attackers Wednesday night as they walked down a supermarket aisle, with Korokos walking with a cane and a clear bandage over his nose.
The nature of the dispute turning deadly was not immediately known.
